Where is the Bemis Center located?
The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts is located at 724 S 12th St. in Omaha, Nebraska, on the corner of 12th and Leavenworth just south of the Old Market area. Our staff can be reached at 402.341.7130, Monday-Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 PM.
How does the Auction benefit the Bemis Center?
The Benefit Art Auction highlights the forward-thinking, diverse, and at times provocative nature of contemporary art. By celebrating these values, the Benefit is an ideal opportunity for the public to support creativity in a tangible way. All proceeds are reinvested into the Bemis Center's artist-centric programs that advance the work of today's artists year-round.
How many artists are participating in the Auction?
200 artists (local, regional, national and international) practicing in all mediums are participating, presenting more than 260 works of art.
What are my ticketing options?
Tickets include admission to silent and live auctions with hors d’oeuvres, open bar, and live entertainment.
Early admission: $60 per person (limit 4), purchase online only, September 19–September 27
Regular admission: $100 per person, September 28–October 27
At the door: $125 per person, October 28 (pending availability)
Will I receive an actual paper ticket?
No. At Check-in, you will be given an auction catalog with your assigned bid number printed on it.
What is the attire?
Your Bemis best! In the past it has been a mixed crowd of jeans and cocktail attire.
What time does the event start?
Doors open at 5:45 PM. The silent auction begins at 6:00 PM and closes at 8:00 PM. The live auction will start at 8:15 PM and will end at around 9 PM.
What is the starting bid on the silent auction?
The starting bid for artwork featured in the silent auction is 60% of the retail price provided by the artist (plus framing costs, if applicable).

Are there opportunities to purchase works before the event?

What is "Buy It Now?"
The Buy It Now price is calculated as 150% of retail (plus framing costs, if applicable). You have an opportunity to buy artworks at the Buy It Now price prior to the night of the Benefit. Contact Development Associate Ellie Novak at 402.341.7130 ext 16 or email@example.com for more information.
What about absentee bidding?
If you’re unable to attend, but would like to bid on auction items, a Bemis Center representative will be available to make your bids for you. Our commitment to you is to bid conservatively on both silent and live auction items. In the live auction, we will also only bid in auctioneer-prescribed increments until you either win the piece or are eliminated by the first competing bid higher than your stated maximum. There is a $10 administrative fee to register as an absentee bidder.
What if the bidding stops before my maximum bid?
If the bidding ends anywhere below your stated maximum bid, you win the artwork at the final bidding price.
What happens if the bidding goes over my maximum bid?
Your bidding ends once your stated maximum is surpassed by another bidder. If you truly desire a specific work of art, please consider bidding at a higher-than-anticipated price to win the piece.
When will I know if my bid was successful?
The outcome of your absentee bid will be communicated in an e-mail sent to you that same night after all bids have closed. Transactions for winning bids will also be processed that same night. Arrangements for pick-up, delivery or shipping of artwork may be made beginning Thursday, November 3, by contacting the Bemis Center at 402.341.7130.
How do I register for absentee bidding?
Call Ellie Novak at 402.341.7130 x16 with the following information. There is a $10 administrative fee to register as an absentee bidder. You will be required to give your credit card information. All bids must be submitted before 5:00 pm on Thursday, October 27.
